How to work with Canon 7D wedding photography settings
Canon 7D is a top-rated wedding camera for its outstanding features and performance. This camera is the successor to the 5D series and boasts an 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor with Dual DIGIC4 image processors.
You can get the best results from your Canon 7D wedding photos by customizing some of its settings.
Recommendations for Canon 7D Wedding Photography
Step 1.
Capture images in RA
Professional wedding photographers don’t prefer to shoot in RAW format. This is because it takes more time. However, RAW mode gives you the freedom to express your creativity with the captured images.
You may also need to deal with issues such as low lighting, overexposed shots, or incorrect white balance when you are a wedding photographer. This is why RAW is strongly recommended.
Step 2.
Setting the correct white balance
It can be difficult to shoot a wedding in low or inconsistent lighting conditions. To get the best Canon 7D wedding photos, you will need to adjust your white balance settings. The top right corner of the camera has a dual function button that can be used to adjust the white balance or metering.
This button should be pressed only once to activate the rotational dial located at the back of your camera. This Dial allows you to switch between different white balance presets such as AWB (Auto white balance), Shady Cloudy, Daylight, and so forth. If you have low light issues in a wedding shoot, the Auto white balance is recommended.
This is because AWB can easily adjust to lighting conditions when the bride, groom, and guests move to different locations. You don’t have to change the white balance every time
Step 3.
Customizing shutter speeds
You may need to adjust the shutter speed depending on the event.
Speed up while photographing the procession
Keep an eye out for people moving around, and the shutter speed should not exceed 1/60 seconds. After sensing movement, you can increase the shutter speed to 1/100 seconds or faster.
Speed of the ceremony
This setting is recommended to avoid lower shutter speeds while taking photos.
Speed for Couple Portraits
A shutter speed of 1/60 seconds would be a great choice to get a perfect shot. You can also use the shutter priority mode to get better results if you’re shooting a perfect image at reception.
Step 4.
Using Flash
Many wedding events are life-long memory. This is why you, as a photographer, need to lighten and brighten your images with a high-quality flash. You can find the Flash control menu by simply navigating to the second tab in the settings menu of your Canon 7D. From here, you can enable or disable flash settings.
The built-in flash on the Canon 7D has a guide number rating that measures 39 feet (12 m) at ISO 100. This translates to an approximate 14 ft range at ISO 100 using an f/2.8 lens.
5.
Other important accessories
You are focused on making the most of your Canon 7D wedding photos, but accessories can be a nice touch.
Tripod
You may need to transport heavy lenses, batter grips, and other equipment to capture the perfect shot as a wedding photographer. A Tripod provides stability and support to your camera, frame, and overall photography environment.

It is difficult to capture the best wedding photos from a distance. You need high-performing lenses to help you achieve this art. You can choose any lens from the following list for Canon 7D wedding photography.
