Important things to keep in mind before connecting Canon 7D with a computer
To transfer photos and videos from your Canon 7D camera to your computer, you can connect it to your computer. There are some things you should know before you begin the process.

Step 1.
First, verify that the camera has not been connected to the computer. Next, turn the power switch on the camera to “On”.
Step 2.
The menu will appear on your camera’s screen when you press the button that reads “Menu”.
Step 3.
The auto power settings will need to be turned off. This will prevent your Canon 7d from disconnecting during the transfer. Turn the main dial to the camera, then click on the tab with the mark [ ]. Next, choose the option that reads “Autopower off.” After you’ve done this, press the “SET” key. The EOS Utility will be opened and communication between the camera and the computer will begin. Click on the Start button to open the EOS Utility. Next, choose “All programs” from the menu. You will need to select Canon Utilities or EOS Utilities from there and then click on EOS Utility.
