Wedding photography can be a difficult task, no matter whether you do it as a hobby or as part of your job. However, having a high-quality camera such as the Canon EOS 80D will make your job easier.

You can make the most of your Canon 80D wedding photos if you simply keep up to date with the best settings.

Canon 80D Wedding Photography: Recommended Settings

Step 1. Set the manual settings

The Canon 80d is a great tool for wedding photography. It has amazing features such as a 24MP APS -C CMOS sensor, and a 45-point AF system. However, it still requires you to dig into the manual settings to capture that perfect shot.

Shutter priority mode and aperture priority mode are two of the key manual settings that Canon 80D wedding photographers can use.

Shutter speed

You can now set your shutter speed to 1/500 if you want to get the perfect shot of the couple. If you want to capture the atmosphere and guests, the shutter speed should be adjusted a little.

Priority mode settings

For couples portraits, you should keep the aperture priority mode setting at f/1.4-f/2.8. If you’re trying to capture landscape shots for guests or venues, a higher aperture value may be recommended.

Step 2. The right depth of field

The right depth of field is crucial for wedding photos that only have couples in focus. This is why Canon 80D wedding photography has such a high priority.

To increase the depth of field, set a smaller aperture to allow more light in the camera. The shutter will open wider if the aperture is smaller, allowing you to capture a shot.

Macro lenses can be used to enhance the depth of field. They allow the photographer rightly to focus on the subject. This would allow the photographer to blur the background and create a perfect depth-of-field for the shot.

Step 3. Flash

To brighten your wedding photos, you must use flash. The Canon 80D is equipped with a flash built-in that can be used to enhance wedding photos. It has a Guide Number (or 39.4 feet) at ISO 100.

You will still need to determine the right amount of flashlight to use in the lighting conditions. This is dependent on the ISO setting.

This is how you can achieve a harmonious balance between ambient and flashlight in the room. Start with ISO 1600 @f/2.8: 1/16th of the flash power.

Step 4. Use the automatic white balance

It is highly recommended that you use the Canon 80D’s automatic white balance settings for wedding photography.

Lightroom can adjust the white balance if you shoot in raw mode. If the AWC option doesn’t work for you, you can choose Kelvin mode and pre-set the temperature.

Step 5. Make sure you have the correct lens

To enhance your Canon 80D wedding photos, you need the best lens. Before you buy a lens, make sure it can deliver the desired image resolution and optical excellence.

If you want to capture dramatic shots of the couple, their guests or the surrounding area of the wedding venue, Macron and Prime lenses are great options. To get the perfect shot, you can use these lenses.
