How Do I Get My Chromebook to Turn On?

Author:

There are several reasons your HP Chromebook won’t turn on “outside of nowhere”. There may be a problem with the software or the charger that causes the Chromebook to not turn on.

If the Chromebook doesn’t turn on, it will make troubleshooting difficult. This list of troubleshooting tips may help you to get the problem under control faster.

If your HP Chromebook doesn’t turn on, here are some troubleshooting steps

Step 1.

Conduct a basic physical examination of the device. Sometimes, hardware-related issues are easier to spot than connectivity issues.

  • Connectivity

A loose connection between your Chromebook and the charging cable is not the best scenario. Verify that the charging cables are connected properly.

  • Liquid Damage

As the HP Chromebook isn’t water-resistant, liquid sneaking into its motherboard might be one of the worst-case scenarios. If your Chromebook is accidentally exposed to liquid (hopefully water), turn it off immediately and place it upside-down for as long as possible.

  • Angrily Gamer Damage

Users may slam their HP Chromebook in frustration for a variety of reasons. The HP Chromebook is small and has very few parts. The screen and keyboard can be damaged by even a small tap.

If you find anything similar, it is possible that your HP Chromebook won’t start due to the same reason. You must continue with the physical inspection, looking out for water residue and moisture.

It is always recommended to bring the HP Chromebook to a service center for serious physical problems. You should not disassemble your HP Chromebook device if you have a warranty. This could result in a suspension of the warranty.

If you cannot find any physical or liquid damage to the HP Chromebook, you can continue to the next step.

Step 2.

Chromebooks automatically turn on when you open the lid (if there is 5% or more left on the battery). This is the next step after you have checked for liquid or physical damage to the device.

If your HP Chromebook doesn’t turn on after you open the lid, the battery level is likely lower than 5%. It’s best to proceed to step 3.

Step 3.

After you have successfully turned on your HP Chromebook by opening its lid, press and hold the power button to turn it on. If the battery level is lower than 5%, likely, the HP Chromebook will not turn on by you opening the lid.

It must still turn on (provided there aren’t any major issues with it) after you hold down the power button for a minimum of 10 seconds. If you don’t have any luck with the previous step, you can still move on to the next one.

Step 4.

This step should only be taken after you have verified that there is no liquid damage to the HP Chromebook. A drained battery could cause the HP Chromebook to not turn on. Follow these steps to recharge your battery.

  • The HP Chromebook AC adapter can be connected to a power outlet. Connect it straight to the outlet, without any secondary power source.
  • After you have completed the above, connect the HP Chromebook AC adapter at the other end to your device
  • After that, you can check the battery status of the HP Chromebook. indicator light. If the indicator light turns green, wait for the amber to turn on and then press the power button. This will check if the HP Chromebook is turned on. If it does not respond to heat, turn off the charger and bring it to the store.
  • If the device doesn’t heat up, charge it for 10 minutes. Then turn on the device by pressing the power button. If the device doesn’t respond, you can move on to step 2.

Step 5.

After you’ve completed all of the previous steps, only choose this step. Your HP Chromebook may be frozen. It is a good idea to perform an EC reset.

For three seconds, press and hold the power button and refresh buttons. If the device boots, congratulations! You can simply take it to the HP store if it doesn’t respond.

The bottom line for HP Chromebook is that it won’t turn off
