Use both a monitor and a laptop to connect them.

Laptops are getting more powerful and innovative. The small screen size is something you must compromise on. It’s difficult to deal with the 11-15 inch screen unless you have a 17-inch monster.

It is better to have a large monitor at your desk. This will make it easier to do a lot more tasks.

You can also multitask with your laptop screen by adding the desktop option. The portable monitor, which you can take with you along with your laptop and USB-C ports, will accomplish the goal.

The connectors on laptops are usually ones that can be plugged into the monitor. There are four options: HDMI and DVI, VGA, VGA, as well as display port. Because they are too small to fit into the HDMI output or DisplayPort full-size, adaptors are required for thin laptops.

You will need cables and adapters to support your second screen.

Many laptops can power a second screen. For the laptop or desktop to fit, you will need the HDMI or display ports.

If you have an older computer, it may be necessary to search for the white DVI socket or another blue VGA socket.

You can connect any of the four types of available ports to your projector, additional computer, television, or other secondary screens.

You can use any one of these ports to connect to the right cable. Sometimes, the compatible port is not available on lighter or thinner laptops. You will need to include the adaptor.

Setting up a second screen

It is easy to set up the screen. The computer will recognize the second monitor by simply plugging it in. Follow the configuration steps.

For Windows

Step 1.

After connecting the correct wire between your laptop and your monitor, you will be able to configure Windows to use both screens. Windows will detect the monitor when it is connected and turned on in most cases.

It will immediately duplicate the contents of the screen. If you cannot see the contents of the screen, you can use the buttons to locate the menu and select the appropriate video input. The input will be switched to the one with the video signal.

You will now need to right-click the Windows desktop>>> select Display Settings.

There is an alternative.

Click Start > Settings > Systems. Next, start looking for options such as orientation, text size, and resolution.

Step 2.

To mirror all content on the laptop’s screen, the duplicate option can be used for the second monitor. The extended menu allows you to extend the windows desktop across both monitors.

The third option only shows 1 or 2. For further identification, you can click on the identify button.

Another option is available. Switch between modes, then look for the function key at the top of the laptop’s row. You will see two monitors.

To toggle between the different configurations, you will need to press the Fn and function keys. This configuration includes a laptop display, the external screen only, and laptop + external screen.

You must select the “extend these display displays” option in each case to treat the second monitor as a separate desktop. Another application can be used to view the screens on your laptop screen. Drag monitor 2 below the heading to customize your display.

This will make your screen default to the right side of your laptop.

The rectangle will be larger if the resolution of the monitor is greater than that of the laptop. This has nothing to do with the actual size of your monitor. To align the bottom edge, drag the monitor icon on the second monitor.

This will give you an equal area at the top and bottom. It is important to keep in mind that this will impact the mouse’s movement across the screens.

Step 3.

Next, you will need to check the resolution of the display. Each monitor must have a native resolution. If you don’t already know the specifications, you will need to check them.

You can adjust the size of text, other items, and the applications slider when you have a screen with a resolution higher than 4K. This will make it easier to read.

Once you are satisfied with the settings, click on apply to allow the changes to take effect. These settings will be visible on the monitor connected to your laptop. You can now use the monitor as your laptop screen. Additional shortcut icons can be added.

For macOS

Step 1.

Open the Applemenu>>>choose system preferences>>click Displays. Go to the Arrangement tab, and change the relative positions of the displays. It will be displayed on the left and the one on the right.

Step 2.

You can now switch between extended and mirrored modes by checking the box for Mirror Display. You can also adjust the resolution of your screen using the same menu.

Chrome OS:

Click the information panel in the lower right corner of the Chrome operating system computer. Select the cog icon to open the settings panel. This place can be chosen from there.

You can choose whether the second display acts as an extension or a duplicate of the original. Now you can adjust the resolution and orientation of your display, as well as position them in virtual space.
