Method 1. Sharing the display between the laptop and the external monitor
Step 1. Setting up the monitor
Power off the computer as well as all the other attached devices > unplug the computer power cord
Connect the cables to one monitor. You will usually find at least two HDMI cables and an adaptor.
In case the monitor is equipped with more cables, you have to download the software after connecting the connection to the laptop.
Now you have to connect one end of the HDMI cable to the monitor HDMI connector and the other to the Lenovo laptop.
You have to connect one end of the adapter cable to the monitor and the other end to the outlet.
Step 2. Laptop configuration
To change the monitor’s display plan, you will need to use the shortcut key. For sharing the display between your laptop and an external device, press Fn+ F10 or Windows + P.
Another way to do the same is to set the screen resolution. This will allow you to configure the monitor display plan. You will need to select a program from among the drop-down menus after setting the screen resolution.

Go to start > control panel.
Then click appearance and personalization> go to in NVIDIA control plan.
Click display to unfold it > add it to multiple displays. If the external storage device is recognized, a piece will appear on the screen. Click it to activate the HDMI device.
The HDMI splitter can also be used, but it will not allow two displays to behave the way the user would like. Only one signal can be sent by the HDMI port. The splitter allows you to send the same signal to both displays.
Method 2. Using ‘HDMI out’ port on the laptop
Step 1.
The projector HDMI cable from the monitor should be plugged into the flat HDMI port on the left side. You must make sure the other end of the cable is plugged into the display. Both ends of the cable will be identical. It doesn’t matter which end of your cable is connected to the laptop.
Step 2.
Turn on the monitor by plugging it into an electrical outlet. You will need to choose the HDMI port that your monitor connects to. You can toggle between the channels until the image appears on the monitor.
Step 3.
You can now configure the windows display. To do this, click on the start button>select panel type>display in the search box located at the top-right corner of the window. Click on Connect to an External Display. You will see the default setting to duplicate these displays. If you wish to extend the windows desktop onto the HDMI monitor, click on the extend button.
