How to set the Canon 80D interval timer
Canon 80D interval-timer assists in taking shots every 1 second, and is independent of shutter speed. It measures the time between successive exposures.
Canon has greatly improved these systems for its Canon 80D. The Canon 80D flip-screen camera now has a 45-point Autofocus system. All of them are cross-type, so the camera can now find and follow objects in the frame more effectively. To help track subjects, the Canon 80D has a 7560pixel RGB+IR (infrared metering) sensor. The Canon 80D interval timing allows you to take single photos at a set time.
Adjusting the interval timer on Canon 80D for outdoor shooting
STEP 1. Choose the interval timer for Canon 80D
Go to the shooting menu, then flip through until the interval timer is found. To enable it, click on the info button. Next, choose the number you wish to set (hours: minutes: seconds), and the desired number of shots.
STEP 2. Set the time
Interval shots can be set from 00:00:01 up to 99:99.99.
It can take as many shots as you want. It can also take photos up to 01-99. The camera will continue shooting until the timer is stopped if you set it at 00.
Even after the interval timer has ended, you can press the shutter button as usual to take a photo.
Interval timer photography can be used with multiple exposures, WB bracketing, and HDR mode.
The Canon80D interval timer works with auto power off. The power will turn on approximately one minute before you take your shot.
The camera will not take photos with a preset interval if the shooting time is less than the shutter speed. It will therefore take fewer shots than the number set in the interval-timer mode.
If you plan to use the flash with an interval timer, make sure the timer is longer than the flash’s recycle time. It will not work if the timer is less than the flash.
If a shot has been scheduled within the interval timer, and at the same moment if it is being taken or processed, the shot will be skipped. The camera will therefore take fewer shots.
STEP 3. Use Multi-shot Noise reduction function
The Multi-Shot Noise Reduction function, available on some Canon 80D cameras, makes processing easier and reduces noise. The function activates automatically, taking four continuous photos at once. After that, it reduces noise and aligns them before capturing a single, noiseless photo. This function allows the user to increase the ISO until the shutter speed desired does not cause any shaking. This allows the user to take handheld photos even at night with very little noise.
