Vigneting and light fall-off
Many Canon vlogging camera users have experienced the same or similar situation and are looking for ways to correct Canon peripheral illumination.
This confusion is due to the many terms used to describe this lighting issue on peripheral lighting. This condition is commonly known by the terms light fall-off and vignetting. There are a few factors that can affect the amount of vignetting you see on your frame. These include the focal length and aperture settings of your Canon flip-screen DSLR.
The Peripheral Ilumination condition can be used on the Canon EOS Rebel to reduce vignetting. This will adjust the brightness around the edges of your image. The top of a frame is the most obvious place where light falls off. The light fall-off is visible from all four corners. However, the visible parts are most prominent in the corners.
Even though most people won’t notice the visual vignetting, it is important to ensure that your settings are correct in order to get the best shot. If your settings are incorrectly adjusted, your image could suffer from high light-falloff. We have provided the Canon EOS Rebel settings to help you get rid of light fall-off.
Adjusting Canon Peripheral Illumination Correction
Note The settings below are available in all exposure modes. However, there are a few factors that can affect the settings.
The image format
Important to remember that corrections can only be made when the image was captured in JPEG mode. Canon Digital Photo Professional can only be used to correct images captured in other modes.
Data must be included in the firmware
To correct the lens data, you must first unload it into the firmware of Canon EOS Rebel T61300D. The Canon EOS Rebel supports your lens by opening the Shooting Menu 1 then selecting Canon peripheral lighting correction. Next, press Set. The screen will display the correction data. If the screen shows this, the feature will automatically be enabled.
If your lens is not supported, you will need to manually add the information to your Canon EOS Rebel T61300D’s firmware. You can do this by connecting your camera to the computer via a USB cable, and then using the tools available in the Canon EOS Utility software.
If you’re using a non-Canon lens, you must disable the Canon peripheral illumination adjustment. However, the correction can still be applied while you are shooting in RAW format.
